Changing Your Pilot Certificate Number
Your Social Security Number (SSN) is no longer assigned as the pilot certificate
number for newly issued original airmen certificates. If your pilot certificate
does use your SSN as the certificate number and you would like to request a new
unique number to replace your SSN, you have to contact the FAA. You can either
mail in your request or fill out a request by using the FAA Airmen Certification
online services site. The mail-in form and a link to the Airmen Certification
site can be found at
